I’ve been making these salted chocolate chip cookies for well over a decade and my family can attest that they’re truly so delicious… every time. I was really into baking in my senior year of high school, but was never happy with the chocolate chip cookie recipes I had available to me at the time. Pinterest wasn’t around yet, and I was really wanting some soft and thick cookies that just weren’t coming out the way I wanted.

These are the cookies I’ve been making ever since I did a whole lot of experimenting with items in my moms kitchen… and although they’re not something we make on the regular (not particularly the healthiest), whenever we do, they’re quite the treat. They’re thick, moist (I know… you’re not supposed to use that word… but it really is an important one when defining bakery items, okay!), and the perfect mix of salty sweetness in a cookie.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3/4 c brown sugar
  • 1/4 c pure cane sugar
  • 3/4 c softened butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c bittersweet chocolate chips
  • flaky salt for dusting
    • NOTE — I do recommend all organic products, however, I also recommend utilizing what you already have 🙂

— Preheat your oven to 350° F

— soften butter (if not already soft), by rolling it flat in between parchment paper

— First, in the bowl of your mixer, cream together butter and sugars, on medium speed

— Next, add in your egg, vanilla, and mix until combined

— Then, adjust your speed to low, and slowly pour in flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt until light and fluffy

— Next, toss in your chocolate chips, keeping the speed on low (also important to be sure your mixer head is locked)

— Then, scoop cookie dough and drop onto ungreased cookie sheet

— bake on middle rack for 9-11 minutes (golden color)

— Then, remove and transfer to a cooling rack

— Finally, add salt flakes loosely over cookies

ENJOY!
