I had my first two under two years apart — less I had my first two under two years apart — less than 18 months, really. Then we miscarried, and there were more than a couple of years before we welcomed each of our next two. I assumed that if we had more children, they’d all come close together like the first two.

We miscarried again last year, and we haven’t been blessed with another babe yet. At times, my heart aches thinking maybe my son won’t ever have a brother at all… and if he does, the gap will feel too wide for closeness. But then I look at the relationships between all my children and can’t help but feel deeply thankful. They each have such unique bonds… not always formed by age, but by shared moments, play, and love.

Large age gaps aren’t a problem 💛 they just create a different kind of relationship. Sometimes it looks like gentleness and protection instead of wrestling and rivalry. Sometimes it’s admiration instead of competition. The beauty is, it’s still love. Still connection. Still family.

God’s timing is never a mistake. He weeps when we weep and grieves with us — but He’s also holding us. He knows the babies we’re meant to have and when we’re meant to have them. We can plan and try to control everything, but ultimately it’s all in His hands. His design is perfect, and I can rest in that.

And to the mama still waiting, watching the months turn into years: Your family isn’t late or lacking, only unfolding. The gap you worry over may become the very space where tenderness, mentorship, and lifelong friendship bloom. Trust that the Lord is shaping your perfect-sized family in His perfect-paced way. He makes everything beautiful in its time, and that includes the ages between your little ones, and the story that’s still being written for you. Hold on to hope; Heaven is never rushed, and neither is His love for you.🫶🏻
☀️ Mornings no longer begin with fight or flig ☀️ Mornings no longer begin with fight or flight, but instead a gentle rhythm. Coffee in hand, soft music or birdsong checking the garden, a bit of quiet before the day begins. Morning Time follows which is our simple gathering of hearts around Scripture, hymns, poetry, and a novel. It’s never perfect, it’s sometime chaotic, but it’s become one of the most anchoring parts of our day. The kids almost always say it’s their “rose” of the day at dinner. 🥹

🕊️ Midday brings a small but mighty reset. After lunch, we pause for a quick tidy to reset spaces, diffuse oils, littlest takes a nap, maybe send some outside or giving everyone a moment of quiet with some good books or quiet activities. It’s like taking a breath before the second half of the day.

🌙 And as the sun dips low, our evening routine begins with soft lighting, music for the mood, dinner prep with little helpers, a bit of laughter, a bit of mess. We dim the lights after dinner, light a candle or two, and read a chapter aloud or pray together before bed. These tiny moments have a way of weaving deep connection into the fabric of family life.

✨ Bonus — one of the most vital rhythms for me personally: since I’m not up through the night nursing or rocking a newborn, I’ve been able to reclaim pockets of time just for me and I’ve needed it. A walk after dinner, a quiet workout, and rising early for prayer and Bible reading has become a steadying anchor in this season. It doesn’t always happen perfectly, but I’ve found when I make space to care for my own heart and body, I show up better for everyone else too.

You don’t have to do it all. You just have to start somewhere! Finding the anchors in your day are huge, so even if everything else falls to the wayside, having your priorities set will give you a solid rhythm everyone can rely on. 🫶🏻

When we moved to Oklahoma, we sold nearly everythi When we moved to Oklahoma, we sold nearly everything we owned, we left behind a beautiful forest home with private lakes and trails, and set out in a camper, dreaming of homesteading and a simpler life.

My husband had left his job after being given an ultimatum he couldn’t morally agree to, and though that leap of faith was unbearably hard, we were excited for a new place and fully believed we were doing the right thing.

At the time, our business was thriving. It gave us a sense of security and freedom.
But as soon as we got here… it flatlined without any apparent reason.

Every job opportunity he had lined up crumbled. He was unemployed for 8 months. We’d eaten through our savings just trying to live. Not extravagantly, just meeting our actual needs.

We found out we were expecting our fourth baby and slowly realized we’d have to lay down our homesteading dream. The gap in his work history made buying a home impossible. So we surrendered to rental life (a rough one at that), and somehow just as expensive as the home we left behind.

I begged God If we’re meant to stay, please bring community… He did, so we stayed.

Next month we’re moving into a new (healthier) rental home that’s $200 less per month than what we’ve been paying, with over a quarter acre for the kids to play and for me to garden my heart out (and can add chickens too).

We’re still healing, still climbing, but this feels like a turning point.

For anyone in the middle of the quiet, aching wait… you are not forgotten. God sees you, He knows, and He cares.

There’s so much more to our story, but captions only allow so many words. Perhaps I’ll share more soon. I just hope this brings encouragement to someone else in the in-between. 💛
They’re here!!! 📖 It brings me so much joy They’re here!!! 📖

It brings me so much joy to finally share The Solace Companion: Mother’s Daybook and The Gentle Companion: Child’s Daybook — now available in hardcover! 🥹

These tools have been years in the making… formed in the quiet of early mornings, edited late into the night, tested in real life through rhythms, routines, and the beautiful chaos of motherhood and homeschooling. 🧺

The Mother’s Daybook is a planner crafted for homemakers and mothers alike — filled with monthly (August-July) and weekly planning pages, meal plan space, homemaking rhythms, cleaning routines, “mother culture” reflections, and more.

The Gentle Companion is an all-in-one Charlotte Mason-inspired child’s notebook for children 6 to 10 or so, created for copywork (with primary dotted lines), illustrated narrations, undated calendars, math grids, and reading logs. It’s gentle, simple, and gives our children a sense of ownership in their daily work while simplifying the notebooks they need.

In tandem with these printed books, I still use my digital printables weekly: meal plans, habit trackers, supplement and wellness logs, budget pages, chores and routines, decluttering lists, and laminated rhythms for our laundry room and kitchen or in my binder. These tools serve our home deeply, and it’s been a dream to now offer them in both printable and hardcover formats. Both have several different cover options to choose from, too! 📚

A huge thank you to @thoroughfaredesign, who took the humble pages I created over the last three years and helped me reimagine them into the beautiful companions they are today. Savannah’s artistry, intentional edits, and support brought these to life and I’m so grateful. 🫶🏻

And coming soon:
📖 The Solace Companion: Lesson Keeper — our homeschool-specific planner! This will be available in the next week or two and pairs beautifully with the Mother’s Daybook for those walking through homeschooling in any season.

I hope these companions bless your home as much as they’ve blessed mine. ✨
