〰 Everyday Mocha Recipe 〰 I enjoy it iced in 〰 Everyday Mocha Recipe 〰

I enjoy it iced in the hot months, and hot in the cold months, but it’s been essentially the same for years!

〰 cacao powder (tablespoon-ish)
〰 coconut sugar or maple syrup (light or sweet as ya want)
〰 brew espresso or hot coffee over, then mix or shake
〰 milk of choice (raw cows milk, heavy cream, half and half, nut or oat milks… just use what sparks joy — I use my homemade cashew I’ve been making for 2.5 years)
〰 grassfed collagen (I make my own cashew milk and add the collagen in there already)
〰 scoop of vanilla @cowboycolostrum (code MARYSALAS to save 🤠)
〰 froth & add ice if you’re enjoying it cold, or steam your milk for hot!

Enjoy, pals! ☕️

I’ve been a mocha gal for the better part of the last decade, but we also make our own vanilla bean or lavender syrup (recipe on my blog), and other fun latte combos (also on my blog).

More recipes to come, since it’s something we love to have fun with literally every day, and do as an act of love for our friends and family who come to our home… and mine and Daniel’s dream for the last 13 years has been to open our own shop! ☕️ One day…
Gloomy days, lighting candles, fluffing pillows… Gloomy days, lighting candles, fluffing pillows… clipping flowers from the garden while it’s still sunny and bringing joy inside. A happy raspberry dress and a heart full of slow thoughts, ruminating on what is true. I’m learning again to slow down and see the beauty in what’s right here, right now — not just in what’s coming next. Not waiting for the perfect home, or schedule, or season to feel settled or joyful or purposeful… but choosing to love the *now* — the toys scattered on the floor, the friends and family filling our home, the loud little voices, the ordinary rhythms and daily chores — and making them lovely, any which way.

Because this is the life I get to live today, and I don’t want to miss it while hoping for something shinier, quieter, or more “put together.” I’m finding that contentment is built slowly, in the quiet hours… in folding blankets, opening the windows, setting out a thrifted vase of flowers from the garden. These simple tasks are the work of making a home. A beautiful life isn’t waiting in the next season — it’s here, hidden in the small, faithful things.

So I’ll light the candle in the midst of the storm and call this moment sacred. I’ll find joy in the cleaning, the arranging, the preparing. I’ll be content here, even as I grow and hope and dream. And I’ll let tomorrow be tomorrow. 🕯️📖🧹🌷

We’ve done themed birthdays for a long time now We’ve done themed birthdays for a long time now (with all the decorations and details that come with them) but over the last year, we’ve felt a pull to simplify. With a big family (and the hope to grow!), we’re trying to be more intentional and sustainable in the way we celebrate. 🧺

Enter: our heirloom birthday basket. 🎁
A few thoughtful touches that get used year after year, with space for each child’s personal favorites. I’d still really love to sew and embroider a crown (and maybe something else — still deciding! I thought about a happy birthday banner, but we’ve got plenty of garland… any ideas?).

We keep it simple, but full of joy:
🥞 Favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner
🎂 Cake / cupcake / cheesecake — their choice!
🎈 A few special gifts (usually books, clothes (shoes if needed), something they may not know of but we think they’d love or need, and a few favorites from their wishlist)
🎟️ Sometimes a membership, experience, or special outing (often gifted by grandparents who are far away)

Rudy didn’t feel any less celebrated without paper dinosaur garland. In fact, the kids were all so excited to see what was waiting downstairs that morning (even though they’d seen our basket for months leading up to it haha) and Nora’s already counting down to hers next month. (They’re also planning for my birthday …in November, lol.) 🪿

One of my dear friends is one of five, and her parents did the *exact same* birthday for all five of their kids every single year, and she cherishes those memories deeply. Hearing that a while back helped spark this idea for our own family. 🍧

Overall the whole point is showering each other with love. The kids make each other homemade gifts, cards, and we pray over them, and share our favorite things or memories from that year with them. We pray for the year ahead, and that God would grow and shape them into who He has for them to be. Their life is a GIFT and they’re a blessing to our family, and we adore celebrating them!!! 🥳

Do you do something similar for birthdays? Have you found ways to keep celebration simple but special? Would love to hear what birthday traditions you may hold for your family ❤️
Sweetest little views of the girls’ room 🩰🐷🎀🌷🌸

With the most precious additions — these darling new silhouettes and frames collection from @ohhoneysilhouettes 🌼 I adore having their silhouettes displayed in their room, so we can compare how they’ve grown over the years. These new frames make such a precious keepsake, that I’ll always treasure. ✨

To shop the girls’ room, just comment GIRLS and I’ll get them straight to your inbox! Feel free to comment with any questions though. Always happy to help! 💛
I have always gone “all-out” for birthdays, bu I have always gone “all-out” for birthdays, but at the end of last year I decided it would be more meaningful, sustainable, and sentimental to instead curate a birthday basket filled with heirloom pieces we can pull out for everyone’s birthdays, year after year.

It was time to add in a birthday plate and I wanted to try my hand at doing it at home affordably (rather than heading for a pottery painting studio — though, I think id like to do this eventually, also)!

Here’s how I did it —
🍽️ picked up a ceramic plate from my local Target
🖊️ ordered this porcelain pen per @courtney__weston’s suggestion & free handed a fun and unique design
⏰ let it set for 24 hours
🔥 baked in the oven for 30 mins at 200°F

We used it for my son’s birthday this week and it was precious! I decided to hand wash it to play it safe, but so far it’s perfectly great! 🎂

If you try it out — let me know! There are tons of inspiring photos on Pinterest, too! Check out my birthday highlight for links & more! 🪿 🎈 🎉
I have a tendency to freeze up when I’m feeling I have a tendency to freeze up when I’m feeling overwhelmed and bogged down. When my list feels too long. When the burdens feel too heavy. Sometimes I think quieting the noise is necessary, though. As a people pleaser I find that if I don’t prioritize Jesus, my family, and what brings joy… everything will crumble. But if I do? Oh, then I’ll see glimmers of hope and goodness in every nook and cranny. Sometimes that looks like pausing a task to jump in the car and catch the sunset while chasing geese. 🪿Sometimes it looks like not over explaining myself when I’m feeling misunderstood, and allowing the freedom that comes with the fact that I am HIS …be enough. ☀️

One of my favorite @christydawn dresses, the Brynne, was just released in the most darling 🍓 print with 🌸 and gingham ties. It’s a sweet one! My girls look forward to wearing all my CD dresses when they’re older 🥹 code 10MARY will save you a bit 🧺 #christydawnsteward
